This FAQ is meant only for DS emulation. I don’t have enough experience with GBA emulation to answer those questions as well. At the time this FAQ was written no$gba 2.6 was the current free version and no$gba 2.6a was the current donate-to-get-it-early version. I will try and maintain the FAQ for future versions as well though, but in case I don’t I appologise if the information in this guide is incorrect as it was written only for those 2 versions.

In order to quickly locate the particular question you may have you can use your browser’s find function (usually Ctrl+F) and automatically go to the question by typing it’s number in from the contents section below. EG. If you want say gamepad support then you can enter 37. into your browsers find function and your browser will automatically take you there.

Download No$gba 2.6a.

1. Can I use WiFi? How do I use Pictochat? How can I gain Insert_special_item_here? How can I link 2 DS games? Can I use Pokemon Palpark? How do I trade Pokemon between Diamond and Pearl? DS multiplayer?
None of these are possible at this stage as the basic wifi emulation which is mentioned in the emulator’s changelog does not work yet for all intents and purposes above. This is also confirmed by Martin himself stating further down that it does not work yet for practical purposes.
So let me repeat that. NO WIFI OR DS to DS LINK IS POSSIBLE AT THIS STAGE.
If a game would give you a special item when using WiFI the only way to obtain it is to use a Codebreaker or Action Replay code to unlock it. Or in Pokemon’s case use an app called PokeSav.
No other DS emulator has working WiFi either.

2. How do I insert a GBA game into my DS game in order to obtain special items?
Unfortunately at this point in time that can’t be done. Please use a Codebreaker or Action Replay cheat code to obtain the item. No other DS emulator can emulate this at this point time either.

3. How do I get the latest version?
Well obviously from the no$gba homepage. However version 2.6a the current donate-to-get-it-early version is unavailable at this time as donations are down for an indefinite period so you will have to settle for the current free version 2.6
It’s obviously suggested that you always have the latest free version. (you can get it here)
no$gba - nocash gameboy advance / nintendo ds emulator

4. I can’t donate?
As I said currently the donations are down for an indefinite period of time which effectively renders 2.6a unavailable and unfortunately you can’t just give martin a friendly donation either.

5. When is a new version coming out? When will 2.6a become free?
Nobody but martin knows the answer to this question. It’s entirely up to him when he releases a new version and he is under no obligation to even give us another one. Basically it will be done when it’s done and out when it’s out.
As soon as a new version does come out it will be the new donate-to-get-it-early version and 2.6a will become the free version.

6. I want to contact Martin?
His address is hidden on the no$gba homepage…if you can’t find it then he does not want you to contact him as you don’t have enough intelligence to be worth his time. He also only wants emails from developers, not gamers.

7. I can’t load any games? I get some sort of unable to read card error? The data could not be accessed. Turn of the power and reinsert the DS card? Some sort of strange japanese/spanish/any other language text when I try to load any DS game? Correct savetype for my game?
Versions before 2.6a do not have an autodetect savetype function and therefore need to be set manually in ‘Options->Emulation Setup->NDS cartidge backup media‘. In order to find the correct savetype go to a site like AdvanScene and divide whatever savetype it gives you for the game by 8 to convert the bits to bytes for no$gba’s use and then set it to that. Be aware that you then have to reset or reload the game for the savetype to come into effect. The only way a game will save correctly is if the correct savetype has been set. Also be aware that some games when started with the incorrect savetype will automatically wipe your save data and you will have to start from the beginning again. UniverseJDJ’s Basic Profile Manager allows you to maintain preset profiles for your games which should allow you to prevent loss of save data on versions before 2.6 due to the game being loaded with the incorrect savetype.
If you prefer not to go to AdvanScene every time you could memorize/store this table somewhere.
COMMON —> NOGBA
EEPROM - 4Kbit -> EEPROM 0.5Kbytes
EEPROM - 64Kbit -> EEPROM 8Kbytes
EEPROM - 512Kbit -> EEPROM 64Kbytes
FLASH 2048Kbit(2Mbit) -> FLASH 256Kbytes
FLASH 4096Kbit(4Mbit) -> FLASH 512Kbytes
FRAM 256Kbit -> FRAM 32Kbytes
No game at this stage uses FRAM.
For version 2.6a just set it to Auto. Most games are supported through the Auto setting, but some may require you to exclusively set the propper savetype.

8.a Help I can’t save my game?
You make saves in no$gba ingame as you would on a normal DS, after having set the correct savetype in ‘Options->Emulation Setup->NDS Cartridge backup media‘.
Make sure that you set the correct savetype, some games will load even on an incorrect savetype but then may not give you the ability to save or the save may become corrupt. Make sure that you have either reloaded or reset the game since you set the correct savetype.
Also please make sure that you have actually extracted no$gba to a folder and are not running it from it’s archive as archives run from temporary folders so once you close the archive everything including no$gba’s settings will be gone.
If none of the above applies then try removing all strange characters like spaces or dashes and the like from the game name and shortening it.
No$gba Snapshots (save states) at this stage only support GBA games so a snapshot made from a DS game will cause no$gba to crash upon loading.
If no$gba crashes (like it does in Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time in version 2.6) upon saving then I am afraid that the game is then simply unplayable at this time.
The 2 Questions below and this question sort of go hand in hand so if none of the above applies please read the answer to the question below as well.

8.b Help I lost my save data?
First make sure that the correct savetype for the game is set and that you have since reset or reloaded your game. Also be aware that some games when started with the incorrect savetype may erase your save data and that you will then have to start from the beginning again or your last backup which you stored somewhere else.
Your save must have the exact same name as your game so if you rename the one make sure to rename the other accordingly.
Certain games appear to save even when using an incorrect savetype but it’s best to always make sure to use the correct one as when using an incorrect one you may suddenly just find that it stops working one day.
Also note that saves are only written to the harddrive when either reloading the game (not resetting), loading another game or exiting the emulator. If your emulator closes abnormally or crashes then all your save data for that session will be lost and your starting point will be the last save that was written to the harddrive.
Occasionally saves can become corrupt aswell and become irrecoverable so I recommend that you backup (make copies of) the saves from the battery folder inside your no$gba folder to a different location on a regular basis.
Make sure that your save and the game have the same name.
I recommend reloading the game you are playing after every second or third save to make sure that the save is written to the harddrive incase your game crashes.
The Questions above and below this question sort of go hand in hand so if none of the above applies then please read the answer to the questions above and below as well.

8.c Help no$gba crashed when I tried to load my save?
If you saved the game via a snapshot (no$gba savestate) then it’s useless and void as only GBA games support this feature at present.
Occasionaly no$gba’s ini file (no$gba.ini) may become corrupt, so you could try deleting it which will make no$gba create a new one after which you should then setup no$gba again…although usually this problem causes no$gba to crash or behave abnormally before a game or save can even be loaded.
The 2 Questions above and this question sort of go hand in hand so if none of the above applies then please read the answer to the questions above as well.

9.a Where are my saves located?
Inside the battery folder inside your no$gba folder. Backups should be stored in a different location.

9.b How do I transfer my saves to iDeaS?
1) Open up the no$gba.ini file in your no$gba folder with notepad or wordpad.
2) Look for the line “SAV/SNA File Format” and change the Compressed/Uncompressed to Raw and save the file.
3) Run the game in no$gba and save(remember to load another game after doing this or to reload this game again).
4) Copy/move the no$gba save to iDeaS (located in the battery folder of your no$gba directory).
5) Open the game in iDeaS, but don’t press Start Emulation yet.
6) Go to Options>Save Type>(pick the correct save type for the game), then press Start Emulation.

Alternative way if the save doesn’t work
Steps 1 to 3 are the same as above
4) Convert the no$gba save in this site.
5) Open the game in iDeaS, but don’t press Start Emulation yet.
6) Go to Options>Save Type>Import Saves>(pick which ever the save format you converted the save to), then press Start Emulation.

6) Go to Options>Save Type>Import Saves>(pick which ever the save format you converted the save to), then press Start Emulation.

10. No$GBA Snapshots (save states)?
These only work for GBA games at this stage.

11. Help no$gba can’t remember any of my settings or saves, each time I start it absolutely everything is gone?
Settings for no$gba must be saved with ‘Save Options’ under the options menu.
If that is not what’s wrong the most likely you are running no$gba from it’s archive. Archives automatically extract to new temporary folders ever time you open them. Everything is lost because it never opens the same temporary folder twice, it instead open a new temporary folder. Extract no$gba to a propper folder. Never run anything from an archive file (zip, rar, 7z) etc for anything other than taking a quick look before extracting the item to a propper location.

12. Help no$gba crashed when I tried to load my game?
If you are running no$gba through your DS firmware (firmware.bin present in in no$gba’s folder and ‘Options->Emulation Setup->Reset/Startup Entrypoint dropdown set to GBA BIOS (Nintendo Logo)’) then the game has to be encrypted using either eNDryptS or NDStool (which may have problems working on Vista). Note however that most games no longer require being loaded through the firmware as no$gba now has sufficient emulation of it so ‘Options->Emulation Setup->Reset/Startup Entrypoint’ dropdown should be set to ‘Start Cartidge directly’ to avoid the need for firmware and encryption.
Alternatively try deleting no$gba.ini and allow no$gba to create a new one after which you will then have to setup no$gba again, but the corruption should be gone.

13. How do I obtain the firmware and BIOS files?
These must be dumped from your DS, that’s the only legal way to obtain them (you can get it here). These days no$gba emulates most functions though so in most cases they are no longer required.

14. Are the firmware and BIOS files required?
These days no$gba can emulate most functions so they are no longer required for most games.

15. Can I change the appearance of that screen before I load a game? How can I save the settings I make to that screen when no$gba loads?
That’s the firmware you should have dumped from your DS. No$gba does not have the ability to make any changes to it either with regards to settings or appearance. Changes to the firmware should be made before dumping the firmware from your DS, but I don’t think a custom firmware will work, only the original DS firmware.

16. No$gba crashed/froze/restarted/BSoDed (Blue screen of death) my entire PC?
None of these are the emulator’s fault. It’s either a hardware fault on your PC or a software fault somewhere in your system both of which no$gba just happens to access. Make sure all your drivers are up to date and that your system is not overheating. That’s all the advice I can provide…it’s up to you to find the cause of the problem. If your PC simply froze/stopped responding then it’s likely you have a rather weak PC and that it simply could not keep up with no$gba.

17. My English game loads in Spanish/French/Another Language?
The language is controlled by the firmware you placed in no$gba’s directory. If you wish to change it then then do so on your DS before dumping the firmware.

18. How can I change the time?
No$gba runs off your system time so if you wish to change it’s time, then change your system time.

19. How can I set my birth date?
This is controlled by the firmware. Before dumping the firmware from your DS set whichever date you want. If that’s too much of a bother for you I suggest you find an Action Replay or Codebreaker code to give you the special item you would obtain on a certain date in some games.

20. Does no$gba have skinning support? Where can I find skins?
No, but a skin may be applied through the use of either the tool myZoom or NOZ (search on this blog)
You may find some skins in these threads (emuforum).
Tyo’s No$gba Skin Gallery
Sketch Skins for the No$GBA Emulator

21. How can I increase the screen size? Run the game in fullscreen? Make the screen bigger?
No$gba itself can’t do this. The tool NDS2xGL2 offers 1.5x zooming though and myZoom offers even more zoom and some filters as well as fullscreen.
For those of us who don’t multi-task the whole time whilst playing there’s also still the compatibility trick. Simply right-click on no$gba, click on Properties in that menu and then proceed to click on the compatibility tab, where under Display Settings you tick the option to run in 640×480 screen resolution. This will temporarily resize your monitor to 640×480 when using no$gba.

21.a How can I rotate the screen?
No$gba itself can’t do this. Please use either NOZ, myZoom or NDS2XGL2 along with no$gba. (search this blog)

22. How would I emulate the closing of the DS lid?
Simply minimize no$gba to the taskbar and then maximize it again. If however a game does not require this feature as part of a puzzle or something and you simply minimize no$gba then this same feature can either lead to no$gba behaving abnormally or freezing upon maximizing it again or the game simply crashing. It’s been reported that apparently in some cases where no$gba appears abnormal/frozen after it’s been minimized, that minimising and maximizing it again can return it to normal.
Note please that if you are using an addon tool like myZoom or NDS2XGL2 that this feature may not work, so you may have to use just the emulator for parts which require this.

23. No$gba simply crashes during gameplay?
There are a number of different crashes, none with any solutions. If you get a crash with a message somewhere along the lines of ‘Invalid GX command 000000CD’ then the game is unplayable at this stage.
If the crash is a ‘microphone wave in failure’ then it’s just a random crash and you should be able to resume playing the game from your last save which has been written to the hardrive. Unfortunately the cause for this crash is not known. There are various threads speculating on various causes or solutions of it but none have proven to be a universal cause or solution…so basically at this stage it’s just a random crash some games get, or rather some people get and others don’t.
A game may also crash if you change settings around too often midplay.

24. Microphone support?
Yes no$gba has mic support although with variable success…some people get it to work flawlessly whilst others can’t get it to work at all and have to use various workarounds using Audacity or something else. It would be best to read this thread. Blowing on screen?

25. How can I mute only no$gba?
Well setting the sound to ‘none’ in ‘Options->Emulation Setup->Sound Output Mode’ would accomplish this, however games like Pokemon wait for a sound to be played and when it’s set to ‘none’ that sound is simply not emulated and therefore the game appears frozen as it wait for the sound which never comes. So for those games you can’t set the sound to ‘none’ and therefore no$gba can’t be muted so your only solutions are to either live with it, mute your whole system or if you have Vista use it to mute only no$gba.

26. How can I control no$gba’s volume independently of my system?
No$gba has no internal volume control so this is not possible.

27. Sound is rough/bad/plays imperfectly?
If your game only runs at 80% then sound will not be perfect and there will certainly be some crackle. There are however still unresolved sound playback issues for certain games so even if they appear to play at perfect speeds the sound may still crackle.

28. My game appears frozen?
Well it could be that game is waiting for sound feedback which is not emulated due to ‘Options->Emulation Setup->Sound Output Mode’ being set to ‘none’. So the solution would be to set sound to something else.
Try pressing your buttons, at this stage no$gba still fails to render some messages so a game may appear frozen whilst an actual DS would show a message prompt ot press some sort of button (often the ‘A’ button).
If you have minimized and then maximized the emulator try doing so again. If that does not work then I am afraid your game really is frozen and you will have to close the emu and resume from the last save which was written to the harddrive.

29. No$gba runs abnormally/looks abnormal?
Most likely this is due to no$gba.ini becoming corrupt. Delete it and allow no$gba to create a new one again and then setup your emulator as you want it again.
This could also be caused by a skin which you apply to your system not responding well to no$gba, so try to disable the skin from being applied to no$gba or if need be your whole system.
You could also try right-clicking on the no$gba.exe and clicking on properties in the appearing menu. Then click on the ‘Compatiblity’ tab in the window that popped up. Under ‘Display Options’ put a tick next to ‘Disable visual themes’, then click the ‘Apply’ and ‘Ok’ buttons.

30. Where can I find cheats for no$gba?
The codebreaker or codejunkies (action replay) sites would be the best places to look. GameFAQs or some of the other sites listed below could also occasionaly offer some codes though.

31. How do I apply cheats in no$gba?
I did not have enough experience with cheats to answer this question myself so I asked for some input and got this info from imlost, so credit to him for this point.
Before using any cheat codes, you have to make sure that the codes are the same region as your game; otherwise, if you input any cheat codes that are different region, the code(s) might not work, but if it does work, it might give you some glitches.
Codebreaker codes usually requires a Master(Enable) Code for all the other codes to work; however, some codes might not require an Enable Code to work. After you enter the Enable Code, you will see [E] right next to the code.

Unlike Codebreaker codes, Action Replay codes do not require any Enable Code.

After you enter the code(s) that you wanted, you will see a box [ ] right next to the code(s) that you enter. Simply double click the code(s) and a check mark will appear inside the box, which means the code(s) is on.

Whenever you see a box with a question mark inside it [?], it means one of the following:
1) The code(s) that you enter contains some wrong value.
2) The code(s) might have been a different region than your game.
3) You didn’t input the Enable Code (only applies to Codebreaker codes)

I might have missed some things, but that’s all I can think of right now.
32. How can I speed no$gba up?
Obviously the more detailed and 3D intensive the game the more system resources it will require to run acceptably.
Well there is no real magical speed increase.
Disabling Joysticks/Gamepads and SNESpad Adapter under ‘Options->Emulation Setup->Controls tab’ is apparently faster than having them enabled (screen filter is not mentioned as there is no filter for DS games so it’s automatically off).
According to the emulator setting ‘Multiboot Normal/Burstdelays’ to Fast/Fast is apparently also fast…although I think this has to do with linking GBA games so it’s irrelevant.
Setting ‘Sound Output Mode’ to ‘none’ and/or ‘Sound desired Sample Rate’ to ‘low (10kHz)’ is apparently also faster but I notice virtually no impact on my system. Also note that setting sound to ‘none’ may appear to freeze some games as they wait for sound to play which however never does.
Toggling between various different options under ‘Emulation Speed, LCD Refresh’ will speed up the game or slow it down a bit, but it does so by frameskipping so both audio and amount of stutter experienced will increase or decrease as well.
Some games will run faster under the ‘3D Renderer’ ‘nocash’ whilst others might run better under ‘opengl’. Both still have rendering problems however and therefore some games can only be played with one or the other.
Don’t run no$gba with any filters applied on myZoom or any zooming tool at all if you are struggeling for speed as they will each give you a variable performance hit.
Your last option is to turn CPU intensive tasks like antivirus programs off on your system.
Beyond the things mentioned here however nothing else can be done.
If someone recommends overclocking I suggest you ignore them. Overclocking is very dangerous to your system and may cause great harm and completely destroy your system if you don’t know what you are doing. Only even think about attempting to overclock if you know EXACTLY what you are doing and have more than adequate cooling for your PC.

33. I have a dual-core or quad-core PC though so why is no$gba running so slow? Will multi-core support be added?
No$gba does not have an multi-core optimizations. The only support those extra cores give you is being able to free up one core for no$gba entirely whilst the others handle background tasks and other programs that no$gba would usually have to share on the same core. That means that essentialy on a 1.5Ghz Dual core, no$gba is only running on a single 1.5Ghz core so it may run rather slow.
Until Martin obtains a dual-core or better PC no multi-core optimizations are planned and at the moment he has far from such a PC.

34. My game runs too fast, how do I slow it down?
On most systems games only just run full speed so there is no built-in frame limiting. The only ways of slowing a game down would be to run a zooming tool with a filter applied to the game and even then you may have to further bog your system down bu running other programs which can take away from no$gba’s CPU use percentage.
You could try lower it’s priority in your task manager as well, but I am not sure if it would give you the desired effect.
You could also try setting the ‘Options->Emulation Setup->Emulation Speed, LCD Refresh’ dropdown to one of the slower options and then possibly resetting the game for the change to take effect…although some have tried this and it’s failed to make a difference.

35. My game renders incorrectly? Appears unplayable? Text gets stuck on the screen? Transparency Problems?
If toggling the renderer (Options->Emulation Setup->3D renderer dropdown) does not help then that’s simply the state of DS emulation at this point. Your only options are to either try and play the game on another emulator or play the game on this rather nifty device Nintendo came up with which just so happens to play all DS games perfectly called the Nintedo DualScreen or Nintendo DS for short.

36. The colours are not bright enough/too bright?
Change between either Nintendo DS (in GBA mode) or VGA (poppy bright) in the Options->Emulation Setup-> GBA Mode dropdown. Nintendo DS (in GBA mode) tends to resemble the screen of an old DS phat whilst the VGA (poppy bright) setting tends to resemble a new DS Lite.

37. I can’t setup my gamepad propperly?
I suggest you use Xpadder for all your gamepad needs. It’s an awesome tool for anyone with a gamepad and can be used for much more than just no$gba.
The Official Xpadder Homepage

38. Will I add GBA Questions and Answers to this FAQ as well?
No. I don’t have enough experience using no$gba as a GBA emulator and prefer using VBA-M for all my GBA emulation needs.

39. Can you use this FAQ somewhere else?
Sure, knock yourself out.

Nokia tube 5800 XM
Well, i had this annoying problem when i was tried to connect my 5800 XM to my computer. When i plugged the cable to USB port, it gave me "Cannot install USB Phone parent". Then i unplugged and plugged it back, I still received this message. OMG, it waste my useful 2 hour..

Finally, I got it clear and i can connect my Tube to computer again..
Here's step how to fix it:
  1. Remove you mobile device from the PC if connected.
  2. Uninstall PC Suite
  3. Install latest version of PC suite. check at Nokia
  4. Browse to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
  5. Locate WDF01000 and make a backup of it.
  6. Now delete WDF01000 from System32\Drivers folder.
  7. Launch PC suite and connect your phone.

simple fixes for annoying 2 hour error..
Good luck then :)

This is a guide for newbies using the Windows operating system who always want to know how to find an IP from somewhere. It is simple and to the point. If any of you “elite hackers” are reading this FAQ and complain to me about it being so easy or something well then I might just right a tutorial called “How to Grow a Brain for Complete Dumbasses”.

Getting IP’s for Complete Newbies FAQ

1. What is an IP address?

2. What can an IP tell me about a person?

3. What are the tools I need to get someone’s IP address?

4. How do I find my own IP address?

5. Can I get someone’s IP from his or her email messages?

6. How do I get someone’s IP when they are chatting on MSN/AIM/Yahoo Messengers?

7. What is IRC and how do I get a person’s IP address on there?

8. What is social engineering and how can it help me obtain someone’s IP address?

9. If someone is using a proxy or wingate how can I obtain his or her true IP address?

10. Someone told me that websites could get my IP and other information. Is this true?

What is an IP address?

An IP address or Internet Protocol is a 32-bit number address, which is assigned to each computer (technically called a host) connected to the Internet. It is the address to which different types of data are sent to your computer. It consists of 4 octets. Each octet equals 8 bits and has a range from 0 to 255. (Every IP address on the Internet is sectioned off into classes from class A to class E, depending on a different range of numbers, but I won’t go into that here.) Well I always believed that sometimes pictures speak louder than words so here is an example of a typical IP address:

209.124.223.67

| | | |

| | | |---------> (4th octet. 8-bits. Ranges from 0 to 255)

| | |-------------> (3rd octet. 8-bits. Ranges from 0 to 255)

| |-----------------> (2nd octet. 8-bits. Ranges from 0 to 255)

|---------------------> (1st octet. 8-bits. Ranges from 0 to 255)

Notice how each octet is separated by a decimal. I said earlier that an IP address is a 32-bit number or address. There are 4 octets, which are each 8-bits. So 8-bits + 8-bits + 8-bits + 8-bits = 32-bits. For a more in depth look into Internet Protocol, read RFC 791, which can be found at www.rfc-editor.org.

What can an IP tell me about a person?

Well an IP address can tell a good bit of information about a person, or should I say the computer the person is at or registered to. In its numerical form, an IP number would be kind of hard, to an average and less geeky person, to look at and automatically see what information you can get from it. Enter the Domain Name System (DNS). The Domain Name System or DNS turns those confusing little numbers into readable hostnames (ex. 209.124.223.67 in its DNS form would look like gnzl-as50-67.eatel.net). Now to convert an IP number address into DNS form you would have to use something called rDNS or reverse Domain Name System. To find rDNS tools online just go to www.samspade.org or search at www.google.com (a highly recommended search engine that I use) and run a search on “reverse dns tools”, without the quotes of course. Now let’s analyze the domain that we just resolved:

gnzl-as50-67.eatel.net

| | |

| | |----> (domain belongs to a network)

| |---------> (name of the isp or internet service provider)

|-------------------> (the name of the machine which is located in “gnzl” or gonzales of Louisiana)

Domains could also have suffixes behind them (ex. gnzl-as50-67.eatel.net.uk) indicating that they are from another country. Example:

.jp = Japan

.uk = United Kingdom

.nl = Netherlands

.it = Italy

.ru = Russia

.fr = France

.eg = Egypt

********************************

I might be getting off the subject here but you can sometimes do a little guesswork about a person by looking at their domain. For instance, if you run across someone in a chat room who is trying to act like, in his/her words, “a hacker”, by threatening people and saying he/she will “hack” their computers if they get him/her mad, or by thinking they know everything about computers, and they are on a domain that ends with aol.com or with the words compuserve somewhere in it, its more than likely safe to say that they don’t know a thing about what they are talking about since AOL is not a good service provider for someone serious about hacking or, in my honest opinion, anyone else on the internet. Why you ask? The list goes on my friends. Everything from their poor technical support to there over priced monthly payments. I won’t get into it here but you can go to www.google.com and type in “aol sucks because” to find out for yourself. No offense to those of you AOL members who actually do know something but you know I speak the truth :-).

What are the tools I need to get someone’s IP address?

The main tool u need above all is a brain. Once you learn how to use that properly, the rest will fall into place. Oh, and a little knowledge of knowing where to look.

How do I find my own IP address?

Windows 95/98/ME:

1. Click the Start button then press Run.

2. In the Run dialog box, type in WINIPCFG in the white space and press OK.

3. An IP Configuration box should pop up with the IP displayed.

Windows 2000

1. Click START, go to Programs, then go to Accessories, and select the Command Prompt.

2. The Command Prompt window will open. Type "ipconfig/all" and hit the RETURN key.

Windows NT

1. Click the Start button then press Run.

2. In the Run dialog box, type in IPCONFIG in the white space and press OK.

OR

1. Click Start, go to Programs, and then select Command Prompt or MS-Dos Prompt.

2. When you see that black window pop up type “ipconfig/all” and press Enter.

Can I get someone’s IP from his or her email messages?

Yes. All you would have to do is look at the email header of the message. A header is the part of information on the email that shows you who the email came from, who it was sent to and what time it was received, and the subject of the email. There is also what’s called an extended header, which tells you more information. I will show this in a minute.

Since Yahoo, Hotmail, and Outlook Express are one of the top email services I will show you how you can view the header options of email messages on each one. When you are on Hotmail, go to Options, and then go to Mail Display Settings to set your header preferences. When you are on Yahoo, go to Options, then Mail Preferences, then change Message Headers to “all”. On Outlook Express, just click on an email message and when the letter is displayed, go to the top and press File, then press Properties. A gray display box should come up, then press Details and you should see the header of that email.

Now Email headers have what’s called a basic header and an extended header. Let me show you an example of a basic email header. I will use Yahoo’s header for an example…

From: “John Doe”

To: “Jane Doe”

Subject: Hello Jane!!!

Date: Sat, 14 Jul 2001 16:54:59

Now here is an example of an extended header…

X-Apparently-To: Jane@yahoo.com via web10605

Received: from 1Cust238.tnt10.rtm1.nl.uu.net (EHLO localhost.localdomain) (213.118.114.228) by mta223.mail.yahoo.com with SMTP; 30 Apr 2001 13:16:15 -0700 (PDT)

This is what you would see if you had the extended header option on. As you can see I colored the IP in red for you. The header also shows the person’s domain (1Cust238.tnt10.rtm1.nl.uu.net). I would go into detail on everything in the header but that is not why you are reading this and this is not an email tutorial so...

How do I get someone’s IP when they are chatting on MSN/AIM/Yahoo Messenger?

How many times have you moderators on computer security message boards heard this one? The answer is quite simple really. All you need is a direct connection from you to the person’s computer, and a wonderful little command that comes with all windows systems called netstat. Netstat displays active connections and protocol statistics.

Now to get someone’s IP on these messenger you would need a direct connection. I will explain why in a bit. Now to get a direct connection you would need to have some sort of file transferring, voice chat session, or even a web cam session with Windows NetMeeting. Ok say you are sending a file to someone and you want to get his or her IP. First you would need to open up the MS-Dos Prompt or Command Prompt or the little black window thingy to the computer illiterate. Just follow the same format I showed you early on how to find your IP address. You know, Start, Programs, Command Prompt. Ok now you should have the Dos Prompt window up. While you are transferring/receiving a file, or voice chatting with someone, type in the command “netstat -n”. You should see something like this…

C:\WINDOWS>netstat -n

Active Connections

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State

TCP 211.124.228.98:1138 64.4.13.69:1863 ESTABLISHED

TCP 211.124.228.98:1150 64.4.12.190:1863 ESTABLISHED

TCP 211.124.228.98:6891 12.90.50.93:1978 ESTABLISHED

The above is an example I got from using the netstat -n command on a friend. The two above commands are from the MSN messenger service. There are two because I am chatting to two people at this time. So while I was transferring a file to this person I did the netstat -n command and got their IP number (12.90.50.93).

So you might be asking, “How come I can’t just do a netstat -n while I’m chatting with someone?” Well the truth is that you can, but you would only get the IP of the MSN server that you are on. Let me explain it better with a picture….

You

\

\

\

MSN Server

/

/

/

Other Person (cause the word “Victim” sounded too malicious :-) )

So that’s basically how it looks when you send your messages to your friend or what not. They first have to pass through the MSN server then go to your friend’s messenger. So if you were to do a netstat -n you would only get the server’s IP. Now a direct connection (in red) would look like…

You

| \

| \

| \

| MSN Server

| /

| /

| /

Other Person

I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. Now netstat -n would work since the transfer is between you and the other person, and not you, then the server, then the other person. For more on netstat, type “netstat ?” in the DOS prompt.

What is IRC and how do I get a person’s IP address on there?

IRC or Internet Relay Chat is a chat where you can communicate with people all over the world in up to thousands of chat rooms using real-time message sending. To connect to the IRC world of chatting you need a chat client. The main one is mIRC, which can be found at www.mirc.com. Of course there are other clients such as BitchX, ircII, ircle, pIRCh, Xchat and so on. For the second part of the question I’m going to assume that you already know how to operate an IRC client. So to get someone’s IP on IRC all you would have to do is issue the command “/whois Nickname”. Some information on the user should come up and you should see the person’s domain or IP. Unfortunately, most of the IRC servers block a person’s IP number or domain by only showing half of it or by blocking out the entire thing with X’s. This is done for the safety of the chatters from lame bastards who actually think nuking someone and using Subseven is actual hacking. So using /whois on a person might not be too affective.

Another method would be to get a direct connection with someone on IRC using DCC or Direct Client to Client and doing a netstat -n on the person. You can do this by opening the MS-Dos Prompt and issuing the netstat -n command on them while a file transfer in DCC is occurring or by issuing the command while you are in a DCC chat with someone to get their IP address. Look at “How do I get someone’s IP when they are chatting on MSN/AIM/Yahoo Messenger?” for more details about netstat -n.

What is social engineering and how can it help me obtain someone’s IP address?

A technique mainly used on phones, chats, and physical person-to-person talking, social engineering is tricking someone into giving out valuable information to you about someone or something without them knowing they are doing anything wrong. Yeah, I know, that’s just the technical way of saying it. Its mainly just lying your ass off to get what you want.

An example of social engineering, for example, on IRC chat servers is impersonating the services bots that you identify to register your nickname and save your password. Most IRC servers have a services bot called Nickserv, which you would enter a command to register your nickname with a password. Most people online will try impersonating these bots by changing their own nick to look similar to the services bot (example: Nickserve *with an added “e”*). The impersonators would send out Services notices that are similar to, or exactly the same as the ones sent out by the real Services bots. These fake messages would tell you that you have to identify your nickname (example: /msg NickServe IDENTIFY yourpassword), to the fake bot, which in turn would give the imposter posing as the Services bot your password for your nickname. So it’s best, if you are just starting to learn how to chat on IRC, to learn what the real Services messages are for that server so you won’t run into any problems such as this. Also, make sure your password isn’t the same as any other accounts you may have or else a simple stolen nickname can result in the loss of your email accounts, messenger accounts, and so on.

Now, an example of social engineering to get someone’s IP or domain would be to register a web page with, let’s say, geocities and add a site stats counter to the page. (No, you wouldn’t have to make a web page. Just register a free website which should take less than 5 min and add just a counter to the page) When you have done that you can tell one of your online friends or enemies to go “see your pic” page you made (say pic because EVERYONE is a sucker for pictures online) If you think they wouldn’t want to see your ugly mug then say it’s a pic of your girlfriend or boyfriend, depending on who is reading this. So when they click your web page link to see a blank white page with just a counter on it, say something intelligent to them like you forgot to add it or you accidentally deleted it when trying to add it. You’ll figure out something. (To lessen the suspicion add a silly picture of a bodybuilder or a supermodel or something. Be creative :-)) Now when the person visits the site, just go into your website’s stats counter logs and view the person’s IP. If their domain shows then just do a reverse DNS on it.

If someone is using a proxy or wingate how can I obtain his or her true IP address?

As for as I know, I don’t think you can. Not easily anyway. You would have to be the administrator of the proxy or wingate server and or get access to the server logs of your entry somehow. Its how the proxy server administrators are able to track you down when they find out from another system administrator at a company or somewhere that you were using their proxy or wingate to break into the company’s system. They in turn contact the police who end the cycle of tracking you down by throwing your ass in jail.

Someone told me that websites could get my IP and other information. Is this true?

Yes this is true. Anything u connect to via the Internet can capture your IP and other sorts of information. Go to www.privacy.net then click at the top for a full analysis. That site shows u what information other sites may get off of your computer while you are surfing them. Feeling a little less secure now? Well, I would recommend trying an anonymous browser such as www.anonymizer.com or www.safeweb.com. You can also use proxy’s to spoof (hide your real IP or domain) your connection by using MultiProxy, A4Proxy, or Proxomitron (a personal favorite).

that's all folks.. hope you enjoy it ;)

This trick only to find files uploaded on Rapidshare or Megaupload. It's very easy to find files with the major search engine Google.

Use Google to search files uploaded to Rapidshare Megaupload servers based on the uploaded filename that contained in the Rapidshare and Megaupload URLs. This will help us to find what is published in RapidShare or Megaupload for download.

Write these words in the correct measure.
To download software, zipped files, programs from rapidshare:
+inurl:exe|rar|zip site:rapidshare.de keyword

To search for ebooks and documents in PDF format on Rapidshare:
pdf "rapidshare.de/files" site:rapidshare.de keyword

To download movies and video files:
+inurl:avi|mpg|wmv site:rapidshare.de keyword

To download mp3 files from rapidshare:
+inurl:wma|mp3 site:rapidshare.de keyword

Replace rapidshare.de with megaupload.com to search for files available on MegaUpload.com servers.

The following tutorial will explain and cover some special, painless techniques on how to create a full working CD from the scratched one. I have personally tested this and had fixed a CD that would not read data at all. This tip works best with small unreadable scratches, as some hard scratches are too deep and loose the data permanently.

Requirements:
  • Alcohol 120% software (or similar)
  • Cooking oil
  • Small piece of cotton
  • Dry cleaner paper
Follow this simple steps to fix a scratched CD for repair purposes:

Step one, you must do some preparation work on the CD. Begin by wetting the cotton with water. Begin to clean the CD in a vertical motion. Three firm wipes shall be sufficient. Dry the CD with the dry cleaner paper.

Using another piece of cotton, apply oil to the CD surface. Be sure to do this with caution and not overuse oil. After a through cleaning, dry carefully. Particles from the oil will stay on the microsurface of the scratch. It appears that the oil helps the laser of the CD/DVD driver
to read the surface again.

After downloading and installing Alcohol 120% software, run the program and select to create an ISO - image making wizard. Attempt to read the CD drive and test if the program can read the Alcohol 120% software is recommended for this, as it is known to recover data more efficiently than other ISO software.

If a sucessful read is obtained, I recommended creating a new CD immediately. Copy all the data from the CD to the hard drive or create an ISO of the CD for immediate use. With a favorite burning utility, burn the ISO or data onto a new CD.

Fatal error: the system has become unstable or is busy," it says. "Enter to return to Windows or press Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications."

You have just been struck by the Blue Screen of Death. Anyone who uses Mcft Windows will be familiar with this. What can you do? More importantly, how can you prevent it happening?

1 Hardware conflict

The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device.

For example, a printer usually connects internally on IRQ 7. The keyboard usually uses IRQ 1 and the floppy disk drive IRQ 6. Each device will try to hog a single IRQ for itself.

If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to use both devices at the same time, a crash can happen. The way to check if your computer has a hardware conflict is through the following route:

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager.

Often if a device has a problem a yellow '!' appears next to its description in the Device Manager. Highlight Computer (in the Device Manager) and press Properties to see the IRQ numbers used by your computer. If the IRQ number appears twice, two devices may be using it.

Sometimes a device might share an IRQ with something described as 'IRQ holder for PCI steering'. This can be ignored. The best way to fix this problem is to remove the problem device and reinstall it.

Sometimes you may have to find more recent drivers on the internet to make the device function properly. A good resource is www.driverguide.com. If the device is a soundcard, or a modem, it can often be fixed by moving it to a different slot on the motherboard (be careful about opening your computer, as you may void the warranty).

When working inside a computer you should switch it off, unplug the mains lead and touch an unpainted metal surface to discharge any static electricity.

To be fair to Mcft, the problem with IRQ numbers is not of its making. It is a legacy problem going back to the first PC designs using the IBM 8086 chip. Initially there were only eight IRQs. Today there are 16 IRQs in a PC. It is easy to run out of them. There are plans to increase the number of IRQs in future designs.

2 Bad Ram

Ram (random-access memory) problems might bring on the blue screen of death with a message saying Fatal Exception Error. A fatal error indicates a serious hardware problem. Sometimes it may mean a part is damaged and will need replacing.

But a fatal error caused by Ram might be caused by a mismatch of chips. For example, mixing 70-nanosecond (70ns) Ram with 60ns Ram will usually force the computer to run all the Ram at the slower speed. This will often crash the machine if the Ram is overworked.

One way around this problem is to enter the BIOS settings and increase the wait state of the Ram. This can make it more stable. Another way to troubleshoot a suspected Ram problem is to rearrange the Ram chips on the motherboard, or take some of them out. Then try to repeat the circumstances that caused the crash. When handling Ram try not to touch the gold connections, as they can be easily damaged.

Parity error messages also refer to Ram. Modern Ram chips are either parity (ECC) or non parity (non-ECC). It is best not to mix the two types, as this can be a cause of trouble.

EMM386 error messages refer to memory problems but may not be connected to bad Ram. This may be due to free memory problems often linked to old Dos-based programmes.

3 BIOS settings

Every motherboard is supplied with a range of chipset settings that are decided in the factory. A common way to access these settings is to press the F2 or delete button during the first few seconds of a boot-up.

Once inside the BIOS, great care should be taken. It is a good idea to write down on a piece of paper all the settings that appear on the screen. That way, if you change something and the computer becomes more unstable, you will know what settings to revert to.

A common BIOS error concerns the CAS latency. This refers to the Ram. Older EDO (extended data out) Ram has a CAS latency of 3. Newer SDRam has a CAS latency of 2. Setting the wrong figure can cause the Ram to lock up and freeze the computer's display.

Mcft Windows is better at allocating IRQ numbers than any BIOS. If possible set the IRQ numbers to Auto in the BIOS. This will allow Windows to allocate the IRQ numbers (make sure the BIOS setting for Plug and Play OS is switched to 'yes' to allow Windows to do this.).

4 Hard disk drives

After a few weeks, the information on a hard disk drive starts to become piecemeal or fragmented. It is a good idea to defragment the hard disk every week or so, to prevent the disk from causing a screen freeze. Go to

* Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragmenter

This will start the procedure. You will be unable to write data to the hard drive (to save it) while the disk is defragmenting, so it is a good idea to schedule the procedure for a period of inactivity using the Task Scheduler.

The Task Scheduler should be one of the small icons on the bottom right of the Windows opening page (the desktop).

Some lockups and screen freezes caused by hard disk problems can be solved by reducing the read-ahead optimisation. This can be adjusted by going to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System Icon-Performance-File System-Hard Disk.

Hard disks will slow down and crash if they are too full. Do some housekeeping on your hard drive every few months and free some space on it. Open the Windows folder on the C drive and find the Temporary Internet Files folder. Deleting the contents (not the folder) can free a lot of space.

Empty the Recycle Bin every week to free more space. Hard disk drives should be scanned every week for errors or bad sectors. Go to

* Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-ScanDisk

Otherwise assign the Task Scheduler to perform this operation at night when the computer is not in use.

5 Fatal OE exceptions and VXD errors

Fatal OE exception errors and VXD errors are often caused by video card problems.

These can often be resolved easily by reducing the resolution of the video display. Go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-Display-Settings

Here you should slide the screen area bar to the left. Take a look at the colour settings on the left of that window. For most desktops, high colour 16-bit depth is adequate.

If the screen freezes or you experience system lockups it might be due to the video card. Make sure it does not have a hardware conflict. Go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager

Here, select the + beside Display Adapter. A line of text describing your video card should appear. Select it (make it blue) and press properties. Then select Resources and select each line in the window. Look for a message that says No Conflicts.

If you have video card hardware conflict, you will see it here. Be careful at this point and make a note of everything you do in case you make things worse.

The way to resolve a hardware conflict is to uncheck the Use Automatic Settings box and hit the Change Settings button. You are searching for a setting that will display a No Conflicts message.

Another useful way to resolve video problems is to go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Performance-Graphics

Here you should move the Hardware Acceleration slider to the left. As ever, the most common cause of problems relating to graphics cards is old or faulty drivers (a driver is a small piece of software used by a computer to communicate with a device).

Look up your video card's manufacturer on the internet and search for the most recent drivers for it.

6 Viruses

Often the first sign of a virus infection is instability. Some viruses erase the boot sector of a hard drive, making it impossible to start. This is why it is a good idea to create a Windows start-up disk. Go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs

Here, look for the Start Up Disk tab. Virus protection requires constant vigilance.

A virus scanner requires a list of virus signatures in order to be able to identify viruses. These signatures are stored in a DAT file. DAT files should be updated weekly from the website of your antivirus software manufacturer.

An excellent antivirus programme is McAfee VirusScan by Network Associates ( www.nai.com). Another is Norton AntiVirus 2000, made by Symantec ( www.symantec.com).

7 Printers

The action of sending a document to print creates a bigger file, often called a postscript file.

Printers have only a small amount of memory, called a buffer. This can be easily overloaded. Printing a document also uses a considerable amount of CPU power. This will also slow down the computer's performance.

If the printer is trying to print unusual characters, these might not be recognised, and can crash the computer. Sometimes printers will not recover from a crash because of confusion in the buffer. A good way to clear the buffer is to unplug the printer for ten seconds. Booting up from a powerless state, also called a cold boot, will restore the printer's default settings and you may be able to carry on.

8 Software

A common cause of computer crash is faulty or badly-installed software. Often the problem can be cured by uninstalling the software and then reinstalling it. Use Norton Uninstall or Uninstall Shield to remove an application from your system properly. This will also remove references to the programme in the System Registry and leaves the way clear for a completely fresh copy.

The System Registry can be corrupted by old references to obsolete software that you thought was uninstalled. Use Reg Cleaner by Jouni Vuorio to clean up the System Registry and remove obsolete entries. It works on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE (Second Edition), Windows Millennium Edition (ME), NT4 and Windows 2000.

Read the instructions and use it carefully so you don't do permanent damage to the Registry. If the Registry is damaged you will have to reinstall your operating system. Reg Cleaner can be obtained from www.jv16.org

Often a Windows problem can be resolved by entering Safe Mode. This can be done during start-up. When you see the message "Starting Windows" press F4. This should take you into Safe Mode.

Safe Mode loads a minimum of drivers. It allows you to find and fix problems that prevent Windows from loading properly.

Sometimes installing Windows is difficult because of unsuitable BIOS settings. If you keep getting SUWIN error messages (Windows setup) during the Windows installation, then try entering the BIOS and disabling the CPU internal cache. Try to disable the Level 2 (L2) cache if that doesn't work.

Remember to restore all the BIOS settings back to their former settings following installation.

9 Overheating

Central processing units (CPUs) are usually equipped with fans to keep them cool. If the fan fails or if the CPU gets old it may start to overheat and generate a particular kind of error called a kernel error. This is a common problem in chips that have been overclocked to operate at higher speeds than they are supposed to.

One remedy is to get a bigger better fan and install it on top of the CPU. Specialist cooling fans/heatsinks are available from www.computernerd.com or www.coolit.com

CPU problems can often be fixed by disabling the CPU internal cache in the BIOS. This will make the machine run more slowly, but it should also be more stable.

10 Power supply problems

With all the new construction going on around the country the steady supply of electricity has become disrupted. A power surge or spike can crash a computer as easily as a power cut.

If this has become a nuisance for you then consider buying a uninterrupted power supply (UPS). This will give you a clean power supply when there is electricity, and it will give you a few minutes to perform a controlled shutdown in case of a power cut.

It is a good investment if your data are critical, because a power cut will cause any unsaved data to be lost.

well most of u search google for application, cracks, images and songs, but u need to go thru several sites and then get it, sometimes u dnt get them so u try p2p or post requests in the forums, so there is a much better way of getting them in few seconds.

here is the trick :

1. copy this code in the browser's address bar

Code:
javascript:Qr='';if(!Qr){void(Qr=prompt('ENTER ARTIST OR SONG NAME:',''))};if(Qr)location.href='http://www2.google.com/ie?query=%22parent+directory%22+%22'+escape(Qr)+'%22+mp3+OR+wma+OR+ogg+-html+-htm&num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=active&sa=N'
